BLURB: Little Mowbury is a sleepy English village deep in the Cotswolds. The kind of village where you’re only a local if your lineage can be traced back to the dinosaurs. Where you can find everything in the single shop from morning newspapers to dry-cleaning, and getting your shoes mended. And, of course, where everybody knows everybody else’s business. It’s easy to find… you can’t miss it… just ask anyone and they’ll tell you… “It’s left at the crossroads.”

After being dumped on graduation day by the love of his life, Harry Boyd, Micah Lewis returned to the sleepy village he grew up in. Living next door to his mother wasn’t his best idea, granted, but when your heart was broken, there really was no place like home.

Six years later, secure and content in his job as midwife for a local birthing centre, the last person he expected to move into Lilac Cottage across the street from him was Harry Boyd. Seeing Harry again sends Micah into a tailspin and opens wounds he thought had long since healed. Although, Harry himself isn’t the only issue Micah has to face. That would be Harry’s very beautiful and very pregnant partner, Selena. But is everything as it seems?

Federica“Un- Expected” (Left at the Crossroads #1) is the first volume of the new series written by Lisa Worrall. This series is a bit different, as each book in the series is by a different author.
This first book gives us a vision of the town in which the series is set in, Little Mowbury, a small town where everyone knows everything about everyone.
After being left by his boyfriend, Harry Boyd, on the day of graduation, Micah Lewis returns to his hometown and began to build a brand new life.
Six years later, when he has settled into his new life, his ex, Harry, moves to the small town and not only that, but he moves in across the street and with what looks like a pregnant wife. Well, all is not as it seems, the title of this book is perfectly chosen.
Harry, for all of his life, has only felt safe when he was with Micah, so when he finds himself having to run away from a dramatic situation, the first place he thinks of is the small village of Little Mowbury.
Obviously, the first reaction of Micah is not positive, because he had suffered so much when Harry left without a reason.
Something about the magic of a first love, and the power of a love that never really died will help Harry to break down some of Micah’s barriers and allow him to tell Micah the truth.
When he finds out what really happened years ago, Micah stops fighting against his feelings and rekindles the relationship with Harry.
This book has many elements, a beautiful and sweet love story, the characters, like Micah’s mother, are cute and funny, and there are even dramatic moments and tension.
There are so many different pieces to this book, making the story intriguing and engaging.
I’m curious to see how the other characters will be developed in the next book in the series: “In-Decision” (Left at the Crossroads #2) by Sue Brown.

A 4 stars novel
