BLURB: When drama threatens to ruin a romance on a reality show, only a true friend can save a groomzilla’s wedding.
Daniel Green, an event planner with a neat, quiet, orderly life, reluctantly agrees to plan the wedding of his childhood friend Ander, an outrageous fashion designer soon to marry a wealthy entertainment lawyer named Rafe. To complicate matters, the happy couple have agreed to have their wedding made into a reality show—something that practical Daniel isn’t sold on.
Daniel is neither a romantic nor a wedding planner, but he’s the only person in the world who can manage Ander. Distracting him from his mission is Owen Grainger, a too-handsome-to-be-true producer whose quiet charm pulls Daniel into his orbit.
When the stress of the show triggers bad behavior from Ander, co-producer Victor Pierce decides it’s the key to a ratings bonanza, and he begins to undermine Ander and Rafe’s relationship to create more drama. Daniel is determined to protect his friend and his own reputation, but when he finds himself falling hard for Owen, there’s much more at stake than ratings.
How can anyone resist a title like that? Groomzilla! The author is a genius, it caught my eye immediately. But did the book live up to it’s name? Did the Author fully capitalise on the marvellous title? Oh yes! It was everything I wanted and so much more!
It was full of wonderful, snarky, one-liners that kept me entertained throughout. As the title suggests, this wedding had every chance of being known as the “Wedding from Hell”. Drama Queen Ander is getting married, he’s finally exhausted the list of sociopaths and met Mr. Right – Rafe. Rafe is the complete opposite of Ander, he’s solid, reliable and a lawyer – a match made in heaven! Well maybe? Ander being Ander, becomes involved in getting his wedding and the preparation onto a TV Reality Show. All he needs is his best friend, Daniel to organise it – he’s an Event Planner, ok more Corporate but planning is planning, right? and Daniel can achieve anything and everything.
However, Daniel’s not sure, he’s quiet, tidy, methodical, does he really want to be shoved into the limelight organising this wedding? Every viewer watching every move? but he knows that Ander is a walking/talking disaster and without Daniel’s calming influence, it will be the Wedding From Hell, so he agree’s, reluctantly.
But Daniel is naïve in thinking that Ander was going to be his biggest problem, he hadn’t counted on meeting drop-dead gorgeous Owen Granger or the underhand dealings of the TV world!
As I said at the beginning, I loved this storyline, there was so much going on, but the Author didn’t get carried away, it was all neatly tied up together to make the story flow so well. The shenanigans going on to manipulate viewers and therefore ratings was superb and I could see it happening in the real world, so well done Author.
Then apart from everything else going on, the real “main event” was Daniel and Owen and their love story. Can they find even ground to bring their love to fulfilment? Or will it get eaten up in the cut-throat world of TV entertainment? You will have to read the book yourselves to find out, but I’ll tell you now, you won’t be disappointed, you will love this story.
****I would like to thank the Author for the privilege and opportunity of reviewing this ARC. My review was an honest opinion of the book****
