BLURB: Kieran Delaney-Schwartz—adoptee, underachiever, and self-professed-slacker IT guy—lives his under-the-radar life by the motto: Don’t try, don’t fail. His adopted siblings are all overachievers thanks to his driven, liberal parents, but Kieran has elected to avoid disappointing anyone by not getting their hopes up. He’s coasting through his early twenties when he’s hit head-on by Theo. The successful decade-older Broadway producer sweeps him off his feet for a whirlwind thirteen months that are pretty sweet, until it all comes screeching to a halt on Valentine’s Day, with an unexpected proposal via an NYC Times Square flash mob.
Now everyone wants in on the wedding, except the grooms….
This is a book you will not be able to put down until the last page, so be prepared! The writing is excellent, the story intriguing and the characters very real, very human…
Our ride begins with a prologue where we meet one of our MCs, Theo, and his chosen family, his brothers/friends, Jax, Dane and Gideon, right after graduation, when they decide to meet at the same time and place every year. Then the real ride begins. This book starts where other stories end, a marriage proposal. We find ourselves in the middle of a love story, the same as our other MC, Kieran, finds himself in the middle of a flash mob on Times Square, where his lover of thirteen months, Theo, pops the question in front of lots of passers-by. What neither of them expects is the wonders of the 21st century… The video of the proposal goes viral and by the time they get home millions of people had seen the event including their families and friends. This story tells what happens next.
What does a Broadway producer do when his motivation is questioned? What does a very private, introvert guy, who can’t even say “I love you” out loud, do when his lover proposes him in the middle of Times Square full of strangers? How do their friends and families get involved? KA Mitchell is a master story-teller who takes us to the journey of these two guys with lots of moving, heartwarming, heartbreaking and finally funny moments. This is not an easy, light story. The same as marriage or any other committed relationship is not an easy deal. It needs work and Theo and Kieran need to work for their happiness big time!!! We get to see the events from both of their POVs, we witness their inner struggles, get glimpses of their past, have the chance to get to know them and their motivation better.
I love the flashbacks we get to past events and I wish we had more chance to see how they fell in love…
This is the first book of a new series by this author and I can’t wait to read more! Highly recommended!
****I would like to thank the Author for the opportunity and privilege of reading this ARC. My review was an honest opinion of the book****
