BLURB: Deputy US Marshals Miro Jones and Ian Doyle are now partners on and off the job: Miro’s calm professionalism provides an ideal balance to Ian’s passion and quick temper. In a job where one misstep can be the difference between life and death, trust means everything. But every relationship has growing pains, and sometimes Miro stews about where he stands with his fiery lover. Could the heartstrings that so recently tied them together be in danger of unraveling?
Those new bonds are constantly challenged by family intrusions, well-intentioned friends, their personal insecurities, and their dangerous careers—including a trial by fire when an old case of Miro’s comes back to haunt them. It might just be enough to make Ian rethink his decision to let himself be tied down, and Miro can only hope the links they’ve forged will be strong enough to hold.
Deputy US Marshal Miro Jones and his partner, Ian Doyle are back… and what a story they have!!! Mary Calmes truly outdid her amazing self if it’s possible. This book certainly exceeded my wildest expectations…
It has all the elements of a great book. The writing is excellent, the chemistry between the MCs is still sizzling hot, the intriguing life of US marshals, full of exciting, fast paced action makes the pages fly. Last but certainly not the least the amazing, funny banter between Miro and Ian is one of my favorite treats of this writer.
The story picks up Miro’s and Ian’s life six months after the end of the first book (All Kinds of Tied Down), when Ian finally moves in with Miro. They live happily for six month working together as partners and living together as lovers/life partners, when Miro pops the question one night and Ian refuses. This certainly creates some tension between them, but an unexpected event turns their lives upside down and the failed marriage proposal is their tiniest problem. When a psychopath murderer escapes from prison and Miro’s life is on the line all bets are off.
When nightmare becomes reality, Miro has to fight for his life with Ian always by his side. Their special connection deepens with every battle they go through together. The story is told from Miro’s POV which is wonderfully done and makes the actions and events even more powerful as we feel everything he does. This book has the most serious, gut wrenching action I’ve read by this writer. Certainly not a fully light hearted read, but amazing all the same.
The whole story is fast paced, full of action, hot sex scenes, great camaraderie, which will definitely keep you on the edge of your seat till the last page.
Although this is the second book in the series it can be read as a standalone. Mary Calmes does an amazing job referring back to certain events, explaining people and situations without breaking the flow of the story. I’m looking forward to a possible next installment…
