BLURB: Kian had a history of bad luck with alphas. Because when you’re an omega, with the palest shade of blond hair and eyes an odd shade of frosted blue, alphas were nothing but trouble. Most alphas wanted to use him for his looks or for what he could do, but no good had ever come from any interaction Kian had ever had with one of them. Kian had certain other abilities that made him even more special and more attractive to alphas.
It was this special ability that brought him to the attention of the Dark Hollow Wolves. And they had a new alpha. He was downright gorgeous, stern, and old-fashioned. But one thing he said he’d never do was mate an omega. As their love struggles to take root, Kian must learn to trust in Jim and they have to stand together against the sinister outside forces that sent Kian to the pack in the first place and that threaten to drive a wedge between another one of the alphas and his mate to tear both them and the pack apart.
****Disclosure…..For obvious reasons, I feel obligated to mention that Kian had no “influence” over my Review (lol)****
The no. 13 is known amongst some as unlucky but certainly not in the case of Shannon West, I defy anyone in saying that this Author doesn’t know how to write intriguing, sexy shifter stories, she can compete with the best of them and come out triumphant at the finishing line. Yet again she blew me away with this enticing, sexy Omega storyline.
Can you read this book as a stand alone if this is your first introduction to The Dark Hollows Wolf Pack Series? Personally, I think you can. Granted, this book does bring back some of our favourite characters (the icing on the cake for me) but the beauty of this Author and book, is that enough is explained about these colourful Pack Members so that you don’t feel lost or confused, you will get a great insight for when you start reading the earlier books.
Kian is an Omega Wolf – to put it simply, he has certain powers that includes being able to influence other’s decisions, for example, he could use his power to persuade someone to lay down their weapon rather than use it. As you can imagine, this is a prize gift that many Pack Alpha’s would want – the honourable Alpha’s cherishing the Omega and his gifts, whilst the unscrupulous ones, abusing not only his gift but the Omega himself! Kian has been abused and unfortunately still is by one of the unscrupulous, so-called Alpha’s that I mentioned, he has nefarious thoughts on his mind and will go to any length to get Kian to cooperate. However, Kian is not stupid and much stronger than what Pack thinks, he knows he is being manipulated and used, but he has a sort-of plan in his head to extradite himself from all Alpha’s. However, his plan does not include meeting his Bloodmate (true mate, but so much more) Jim. But Jim has his own dilemma too, it would be incomprehensible for any, true, loyal Alpha to take an Omega as his mate – his credibility as an Alpha would be questioned – who would believe that any good fortune fallen on the Pack was true, rather than being “influenced” by his Omega mate?
The Author then did her job! She wrote a first-class storyline, sexy-as-hell, with scum baddies and hero Alpha’s, everything answered, no cliff-hangers – what else could you possibly want? I loved it!
P.S. The way the book ended with my adorable Nicky innocently(?) asking an unsuspecting Kian about his special gifts, was inspirational – our Nicky never misses a trick!
Five amazing (uninfluenced) stars from me – the Author just rocked it!
****Books 1-4 of this series is being offered by the Author in a box set format, for the phenomenal price of only £0.99 – a great opportunity to see what all the fuss is about!
