BLURB: A sensitive wolf shifter and a vicious vampire challenge history, greed, and the very fabric of their beings in order to stay together until forever comes. Plagued by pain and weakness all his life, Ethan Abbatt is a wolf shifter who can’t shift. Hoping to find an honorable death by joining his pack mates in a vampire attack, Ethan instead learns two things: draining his blood releases his pain and his wolf, and he has a true mate—a vampire named Miguel. Over four centuries old, strong, powerful, and vicious, Miguel Rodriguez walks through life as a shadow, without happiness or affection. When a young shifter tells Miguel they’re true mates, destined to be together, Miguel sends him away. But Ethan is persistent and being with him comes so naturally that Miguel can’t resist for long. Their challenge is staying alive so they can be together until forever comes.
This is the second book in the Mates Series by Cardeno C, but it’s more of a prequel of the first book in the series rather than a sequel.
At the end of the first book”Wake me up Inside”, we meet Miguel and Ethan, this is their story but also Jonah’s family history.
It’s romantic, sweet and very intensive. Here, two very different world’s collide – Vampires and Werewolves!
At 20, Ethan is a werewolf that has never managed to” shift”, which has left him devastated. Taking part in a suicide mission into a Cove of Vampires, seems like a good idea, he would at least die with honour and end his suffering.
On his task, he meets Miguel, a very old Vampire. He not only survives his mission but he finds out that he can shift! Now Ethan is just not your own ordinary Werewolf, he produces more blood than his body needs. He solves this problem by deliberately injuring himself to get rid of the excess blood.
For a Vampire, excess blood is a dream come true! However, Werewolf blood is poisonous to them, it would kill them instantly. Fortunately, for both of them, not only is Miguel an ancient Vampire, he is also Ethan’s True Mate. Ethan’s blood is the only thing that can satisfy Miguel’s thirst.
Bonding with a Vampire is totally unacceptable to Ethan’s Pack. They would never be accepted, even though they are True Mates, so they move away. This is what makes the meeting in the first book with Zev, Miguel and Ethan so amazing. Definitely my favourite book in this series so far.
I loved the difference between the two MCs. Ethan is young, brittle and inexperienced but has the courage to question everything where it comes to Miguel, whereas Miguel at the beginning was a dark and grim character, Ethan’s love, changed him so much. I loved the interaction between the characters, the meeting of two different world’s and see that love has no boundaries….
If you are looking for an intense love story that is very hot, then look no further, this is the book for you!
