BLURB: Kaua’i Detective, Jack Jenkins, has just settled into married life with his new wife Anuhea and he loves his job in the laid back island paradise. When he hears his brother Lane, an undercover LAPD cop, has gone missing while on assignment, he flies to the mainland to help locate him.

Jack immediately rubs Lane’s partner Brennan the wrong way. Brennan has no need of his help, and he fears his intrusion will put Lane in even more jeopardy. Jack is not easily swayed when it comes to protecting family and when Bren finally realizes he’s not going to be able to shake the tenacious detective, the men vow to find a way to work together.

As Jack plunges into the unfamiliar world where Lane’s gone undercover, from the biker bars of the Inland Empire to the gay bars of West Hollywood, he uncovers evidence that perhaps Lane has more secrets than he’s been prepared to face.

With unforeseen danger lurking around every corner, Brennan and Jack form an uncommon brotherhood with one goal, taking down the bad guys… while getting Lane out alive.

It’s no big secret that I am a massive Patti Logan fan, I’m like an old bag lady clutching my prize collection of her books to my chest, fighting anyone who dares to take them from me. It’s also no big secret that she is known internationally for her talent of writing off-the-chart, boy-oh-boy, sex scenes! What is a big secret (though it won’t be for much longer after this review is published) is her extraordinary talent for writing a crime/thriller/mystery novel, without any sex! Yes, you read that right…..no sex! I was so engrossed in the storyline, that I didn’t realise that mind-boggling fact, until I had finished the book – if that’s not talent, I don’t know what is!

“Hawai’ian Ice” is a lethal, addictive drug (gives a massive high, better than heroin). It’s now available out on the streets and it’s killing people!

Lane Jenkins (a cop) is determined to get it off the streets and has received a tipoff from a normally reliable source, that the main dealer, a biker named “Crewcut”, will be at a Club called Adam’s Grotto.

Lane goes to the Club alone, he’s only going to do a “recon” so doesn’t need his partner Brennan or any other back-up. Things take a nasty turn (most probably the most under-stated words of the century that I used there, sorry) and when Brennan arrives at the Club, Lane is missing! Dead? or Hostage? Brennan doesn’t know and neither does his younger brother, Jack, who flies in to look for his brother. Jack is a recently married policeman, he and Brennan are going to use their talents to find Lane – nothing is going to stop them!

And so this page turning journey begins – it’s riveting. Who is the main person behind producing and supplying this lethal drug? Can the “informer” be trusted? Why did Brennan allow Lane to go in alone? Does he not care about his partner’s safety? and most importantly……where is Lane?

So many questions – all needing answers, but you are going to have to read the book yourselves to get them. But I’ll tell you this, the Author gave legends like Peter James, James Patterson and even the great Agatha Christie, a run for their money with this little gem. I lapped it up.

5 whopping “I now know what happens” stars from me.
