BLURB: Dr. Jeff Martin has spent five years as a rural general practitioner on the Isle of Wight, hiding the fact he’s gay. He travels in secret to see his partner, Tris, but when he discovers Tris has been cheating on him, he ends their relationship. Then Jeff meets island native Cameron Gillard. Cameron is down-to-earth, lively, and treats Jeff like he’s the most important person in his life. Jeff blooms under Cameron’s attention, and he decides to come out to his colleagues and friends.
Just when things are going well, Tris reappears out of the blue. Jeff is no longer interested in Tris, but it seems he has two men to convince. Tris, who can’t believe Jeff is serious about wanting to end their relationship, and Cameron, who can’t hide his jealousy of Tris.
Jeff is certain about one thing—the only man he wants in his life is Cameron. Now he just needs to prove it to him.
Jeff is a doctor that lives and works on the Isle of Wight. He is still in the closet at work and pretends to have a girlfriend, though in reality, he has a long distance relationship with Tris, who lives and works in Manchester. The relationship is very one sided, it’s Jeff that does the travelling between the Isle of Wight and Manchester, until that is, he discovers Tris’s betrayal!
Then he meets Cameron, the great grandson of one of his patients.
Cameron is full of life and combined with his big heart, Jeff cannot resist and falls in love with him. But Jeff hasn’t learnt from his past and starts to rely on Cameron – maybe too much? and he realises that he has to change, this relationship is too important to him not too.
On the outside, it would seem that Cameron is very confident, but he has successfully managed to hide some of his own insecurities, till a certain point. Jeff on the other hand, still feels a little unbalanced, after a 10 year relationship failing – and I could understand that, but they needed to learn to trust each other and find a happy balance.
I really like Sue Brown’s books and I was very sad when she decided to stop writing, so when I saw this book’s release, I was a very happy reader.
The book is connected with her Isle Series, so for anyone that has read them, you will be happy to be reunited with Sam and Liam and also, Paul and Olaf. You will see what they have been up to and also some of the MCs from the Lyon Road Vets Series. It appeals to me when authors link their series and mix previous characters with new ones. But please don’t worry if you haven’t read any of these books, this can be read very easily as a stand alone, but be warned and prepared, you will want to read those previous books!
And last but not least by any means, you get to meet a much loved author, but to find out who she is? you will have to read the book!
I really want to read more (hint, hint author).
