BLURB: Following the death of their sub, the former owners of the Guards of Folsom, Robert “Bobby” Alcott and Rig Beckworth, were left to pick up the pieces as best they could. After seven years, these two Doms are ready to move on and find the boy who will complete them. Their painful past comes crashing back when they meet Mason Howard, a submissive who just weeks ago lost his Doms in a car accident.
Reeling from overwhelming grief that’s complicated by a severe social anxiety disorder, Mason can barely leave his home. When Rig and Bobby find him, he’s hit rock bottom, believing life is no longer worth living. Bobby and Rig set out to prove the younger man wrong. Fate has brought the three men together, but they’ll have to face the pain of fear and loss head-on before they can all truly live again.
This is the second book in the Guard of Folsom Series. I have read all the books so far and I have to say that this one is my absolute favourite!
The beauty of this book is, though it is a BDSM theme, it’s quite marginal and therefore will appeal to those readers who prefer a more gentler ride, it’s featured, but the storyline is so strong, it becomes the backdrop, rather than the main feature and another thing that I feel I should mention, is that the storyline does include a menage relationship, but again, it’s not a main feature and you can still enjoy it, even if a menage relationship is not your thing.
Rig and Bobby are now the ex owners of Guards of Folsom Club. Now that they no longer have the Club, they decide to go on holiday to Florida.
They are a great and solid couple, but there’s something missing in their lives – their own sub. After the tragical death of their sub Stephen years ago, even after all this time, it still hasn’t erased the memory of the deep love that the three men shared and has left an open wound.
They are not some young macho men, they have now reached the ripe old age of 50, together with some defects that you can expect with men of their age. But with their solid relationship, the author shares their memories of their present and also their past.
Whilst on holiday, Bobby spies Mason, something about this younger man, draws him in.
Mason is a devastated Sub. He has lost his two Dom’s and is ready to end his life, his sorrow too deep to continue.
Three men with the same pain, who meet just at the right moment in time.
It’s not an easy read, the author does an excellent job in showing us and making us feel all of Mason’s desperation.
And beside his great sorrow, Mason also has panic attacks, which keep him from going out out and living his life. Rig and Bobby with the help of their friend Max, a psychiatrist Dom, strive to help Mason to find a reason to go on living.
It’s a beautiful journey, which ends with three men being together forever. Be prepare to have your heart squeezed!
