BLURB: Life has been known by a series of constants. Violence, anger, drugs, sex, death, heartbreak, pain, fear and the most common, hunger. Always hunger. Not the kind that can be satisfied with food, but the kind born of circumstance. The kind that not only claws within a gut, but settles into a heart, consumes a mind. Deeper. Encircles, penetrates the soul. Hunger for something more, something better, safer. Always just out of grasp.
It’s part of me.
Who I am.
Born of blood and violence, hunger is my fate.
Yet, the slightest things can change the directions of a life. An unplanned circumstance, random act—a connection—a chance event, like a lightning strike, fate trumped.
Jamie is my lightning strike.
Tek Cain was cultivated from birth to lead the motorcycle gang, Crimson Eight. Jamie Ryan, his best friend, is destined to be his second. But forbidden desires have them questioning everything they know, and an undeniable bond makes them want more than their supposed brotherhood can provide. Their love could get them killed, but they are bound to each other—from the cradle to the grave.
I’m a total sucker for love stories like Roped. The main characters and their relationship portrayed here move my soul and mind like no other. I love Jamie and Tek from all my heart and their journey written here is one of the best I’ve read for a long time. Starting each chapter with Tek’s words and thoughts as an introduction is a brilliant idea. I truly enjoyed the writing style with the different voices.
From the relationship point of view this story is out of the world amazing to me and I’d give it all the stars possible. But as it happens there are other factors that influence us, readers. The book has two completely distinguished parts. The first half of the story introduces Jamie and Tek (born and bred gang members) showing us life in a motorcycle club from an insider point of view. This part is brutally honest, very exciting, heartbreaking and heartwarming at the same time. The second half of the story is a lot lighter but the shadow of their past is always present, never forgotten. Here Roped is beautifully woven together with the previous books of the series with a few common scenes. We meet characters from the other stories and have a great time reading about life in the Guards of Folsom. I was expecting some clashing between the two worlds while reading and there was one scene when it happened but then, with the last paragraph, I felt that the shoe I’d been waiting for to drop has started to fall…
Tek and Jamie became one of my favorite couples. Their connection and love for each other is unique and very powerful. There are some tender moments, lots of hot scenes, and all the wonderful details just work perfectly together to make this book a real page-turner.
