BLURB: He’ll marry the maid to get $50 million but a secret could queer the deal.
Taylor Fitzgerald needs a last-minute bride.
On the eve of his twenty-fifth birthday, the billionaire’s son discovers that despite being gay, he must marry a woman before midnight or lose a fifty-million-dollar inheritance. So he hightails it to Las Vegas… where he meets the beautiful maid Ally May.
There’s just one rather significant problem: Ally is actually Alessandro Macias, son of a tough Brazilian hotel magnate. But if Ally keeps pretending to be a girl for a little while longer, is there a chance they might discover this marriage is tailor-made?
Ok, I’m the first one to admit that the blurb does suggest that you may have to stretch your imagination a bit to find it believable, but we are talking Tara Lain here and trust me on this one, she used those magic fingers of hers to write a tailor made storyline for every m/m romance reader, I really liked it.
It was light and sexy fun. The secondary characters were all amazing in their own unique ways, adding substance and credibility to the storyline.
Money is the route of all evil immediately springs to mind when reading. The blurb has already explained the storyline, so the race is on for Taylor to find his bride. His father wants that money and believes that as his son is gay, there is no way he will be able to satisfy the Inheritance stipulations, so he’s very confident that the money will be his, so much so, he already has plans on what he will be doing with it. You may have already gathered, Taylor and his father are not close, for Taylor’s father, it’s all about the bottom line profit.
Ally is hiding, working as a chambermaid. If found, an enforced arranged marriage is on the cards so when Taylor proposes, it seems like a way of getting out of Las Vegas unnoticed, so Ally agrees. Taylor is so relieved at finding a bride, some obvious things aren’t that obvious to him and this is where the story gets really interesting and hot!
You know from the blurb that Ally is really a man, not a cross-dresser but I would say more, androgynous. Taylor is already confused over his sexual feelings towards Ally and when he finds out that she is a he……I’ve already told you its hot!
To satisfy the requirements of his Inheritance, his marriage must be a love match and that is something that is getting easier and easier for Taylor, it’s just getting his father and the lawyer to see that and of course there is the slight technicality of Ally not being a woman……..and if that was not bad enough, there’s Ally’s dad still looking for him, remember the arranged marriage I was talking about?
As I said, it was great fun, so why only 4.5* and not 5*? There were a few potholes in the storyline that I would have loved answered, niggly things, mainly about both fathers but it was still an enjoyable read and I would recommend it.
