BLURB: The thrilling, funny sequel to ‘As You Wish’.
“A Scotsman and an Englishman fall in love… After the most amazing week of his life, at Dunloch Castle on the banks of Loch Ness, in Scotland. The charming, mysterious Samuel Aiken has turned Declan Ramsay’s life upside down. Declan has experienced a remarkable change. He has come to terms with the fact he is bisexual, and he has fallen head-over-heels in love with his boss’s son Sam.
However, falling for his boss’s son was never going to be an easy path to happiness, mainly because the boss in question is multi-millionaire property tycoon and former MI5 operative, Sir James Aiken.
Sir James is repulsed by his son’s homosexuality, and so discovering that his employee Declan Ramsay- the man he installed to run his luxury property rental empire- is in a relationship with Sam, does not go down well.
The lovers cannot hide from the looming presence of Sir James Aiken for long! Soon enough James makes his move, and Declan finds out what he will have to endure to stay with Sam, and what he will have to give to feel worthy of Sam’s love.”
Illuminate the Shadows is like a great episode in your favorite series starring one of your favorite couples. It was very entertaining, well-paced and has the writer’s signature combination of exciting, sweet, hot and kinky. This is the first full-length novel in the Shatterproof Bond series, but here I definitely recommend you to read book 0.5, As You Wish, where you can get acquainted with Declan and Sam. That amazing short story gives a strong foundation to Declan and Sam’s relationship and a better understanding to the whole series coming up.
This first full book presents a wonderful base of the new series, establishing the dynamics, and starting a few storylines that you can’t wait to read more of later. There’s a lot of excitement, some background information, a bit of family drama, and lots heartwarming scenes where we experience over and over how much Declan and Sam love each other. However, I would have liked a bit of ending here as well. I don’t feel it was a whole story. The plot is entertaining and exciting, the mystery is definitely present, but the book ends without anything being resolved. I know there’s a second book coming soon, and I can’t wait to read it, but I would have liked to have a bit of closure here as well. A full episode with beginning, complication and some form of ending.
I truly enjoy reading Declan and Sam together. They have explosive chemistry, some wonderful, sweet and deliciously kinky scenes with each other. Their banter and humor is very enjoyable and I still have the hots for Declan’s accent… I can’t wait to read more.
