BLURB: Two men with painful, complicated pasts who have shut themselves down from ever loving again. Complete opposites of one another, one raised in a strict military household, who grew up with the sole purpose of becoming a soldier and defending his country, only to have that cut short by an IED; and the other raised in the rodeo, small town and ranch life his safe haven; and their chance meeting.
How the two of them end up in some small town diner can only be credited to divine intervention. But are both men too damaged? They say God works in mysterious ways. Well, he certainly had his hands full when he chose these two for saving.
Is it too late?
Resurrection is probably the best book I’ve read this year. S. Davidson is a new author for me, but I’m gonna make sure to read everything she writes. When I saw the cover, which is beyond amazing, and read the dedication, I knew this was my kind of story, and I wasn’t disappointed. I was glued to my Kindle from the first page and I couldn’t stop reading until the last word. Now that it’s over, I’m sitting here having that feeling when you go home from summer-camp. I’m sure you know that empty kinda feeling when you are full of so much for so long and then suddenly you’re not there anymore but the feels and memories will stay with you for a long time. Chris and Jamie have taken their rightful places in my heart.
The book has three parts. The first two are background stories where we meet and get to know our Mcs, and the third is their story together. All three of them are wonderfully written, raw and real and very emotional. The whole plotline is gripping and you actually never want it to end. I love the structure here. We get glimpses of Chris and Jamie’s lives, short episodes that show significant events from their past and present. The writer deals with serious issues with brutal honesty. Sorrow, mourning, loss, PTSD and TBI are portrayed beautifully and realistically. The author must have put some thorough research into her writing and it all pays off, as we get lifelike situations and conversations, believable events and actions. I especially love the secondary characters, who give an extra layer of variety to the story.
This is a very emotional read because of the reality factor. These people are among us. They live, and they struggle in their everyday lives just to survive, the same as Chris and Jamie have to struggle to live on day at a time. I love both MCs from the bottom of my heart. Please read the triggers at the beginning of the book and take them seriously.
This is an unforgettable story of two outstanding guys who find their lifelines in each other. Highly recommended!!!
