BLURB: After years struggling to realize his dream of directing a feature film, on the final night of his fundraising campaign Godard is on the cusp of having everything he ever wanted. The man he loves is upstairs waiting for him, and he’s just a few dollars short of his GoFundYourself goal.
Then everything falls apart.
His personal and professional life in ruins, when his old nemesis from film school offers to fund his dream project if he’s willing to shoot it in Spain, Godard knows it’s a deal with the devil. But he also has nothing left to lose.
Among the labyrinthine streets of Barcelona’s Barrio Góthico, the city’s vibrant music scene, and the sun-gilt beaches of the Costa Brava, Godard begins making shooting his dream project and putting his life back together, largely under the domineering gaze and deft touch of Ángel, the god of jazz.
But Ángel is keeping a secret, and a deal with the devil always comes at a price.
The God of Jazz is one of the best stories I have read this year. Hands down this book has the most intriguing, complex and lovable characters, the most gripping plot and a wonderful, unique writing style, which guarantee an enjoyable and entertaining reading experience you will likely never forget. This is my first book by this author and definitely not the last. I love this feeling when I find new gems amongst the flood of writers out there. Varian Krylov is a true artist, a master of words, a magician, who is able to create an unforgettable atmosphere, portray the plot and characters in a way that grabs your heart and mind at the same time. This book has a rare kind of depth from the first moment, which makes this story simply extraordinary.
The plot is masterfully built. All the background storylines, all the scenes are beautifully woven together providing a great flow and a natural build-up with an escalating pace, growing tension and a wonderful cathartic ending. The writing shows wide knowledge and thorough research in all the areas being it the country, filmmaking, music or relationships. I’m in love with both of the MCs. They have the most amazing chemistry I have read for a long time. Angel truly is not only the god of jazz but also the god of sex and sensuality. I loved every moment of the story.
I really wouldn’t like to spoil anything. This story is a definite must read for everyone who loves reading romance, who enjoys love stories with unusual depth, wonderful characterization, and lots of sizzling sexy-time. Highly recommended!
FIVE BIG FAT STARS
