BLURB: One Aussie. One Texan. One baby. One hell of a fight.
When his sister and her husband are killed in an accident, Aussie cattle station owner Lachlan McCoughney rushes to Texas to rescue their infant daughter, Chloe. He expects to find his niece living in squalor with the Sheffields, a rodeo family.
Instead, Lachlan finds Holden Sheffield, a salt-of-the-earth cowboy running a huge business operation. They want to explore their mutual attraction despite the many problems thrown their way, and together, they must find a way to give Chloe a new family and find a love that spans thousands of acres and two continents.
In less than 228 pages, BA Tortuga showed what real talent is. This book was superb on so many levels, I was captured immediately.
This is Lachlan McConaughey, Holden Sheffield and little Chloe’s story.
For the past three years, Lachlan has been trying to find his sister. The Private Investigator he hired, finds her. However, what should have been wonderful news, turns to horror when he finds out that she died in a plane crash recently together with her husband, leaving her young daughter behind. The will stated that his niece was not to go and live with her grandparents as would normally be expected, but with Holden Sheffield.
He flies to Texas to try and sort things out, expecting it to take a few days, however it turns out to be a journey of truly finding himself.
Holden Sheffield not only has he got to contend with his brother’s death and his best friend’s Death (it nearly destroyed him), a ranch to run which includes training horses for rodeo’s, he also has to be a father to little Chloe. Chloe has become his sanity, his lifeline against going crazy.
Out of the blue, a “Aussie” descends on them, claiming to be Chloe’s uncle. He wants Chloe, claiming he has more right. Things get tense and not in a good way.
This encounter becomes a pivotal point in both men’s lives. They have to try and reach a compromise for the sake of Chloe. They begin to slowly get to know each other and what started as something as simple as giving Chloe stability, grows into something much more between them. Just as things start to look good and get settled, something terrible happens…..little Chloe is kidnapped!
The two have to work together as a team, they have to be strong and determined to get their little ray of sunshine back. They can’t think about themselves, living in two different worlds, they have to focus on Chloe and getting her back,
As I’ve already said, it was written superbly. It goes to show you that we can never take things for granted, because everything can change so quickly. The author certainly knows how to hold reader’s attention with strong characters, a beautiful storyline and a little ray of sunshine!
****I would like to thank the Author for the opportunity and privilege of reading this ARC. My review was an honest opinion of the book****
