BLURB:  Glenn Holloway’s predictable life ended the day he confessed his homosexuality to his family. As if that wasn’t enough, he then poured salt in the wound by walking away from the ranch he’d grown up on, to open the restaurant he’d always dreamed of. Without support from his father and brother, and too proud to accept assistance from anyone else, he had to start from scratch. Over time things worked out: Glenn successfully built a strong business, created a new home, and forged a life he could be proud of.

Despite his success, his estrangement from the Holloways is still a sore spot he can’t quite heal, and a called-in favor becomes Glenn’s worst nightmare. Caught in a promise, Glenn returns to his roots to deal with Rand Holloway and comes face-to-face with Mac Gentry, a man far too appealing for Glenn’s own good. It could all lead to disaster—disaster for his tenuous reconnection with his family and for the desire he didn’t know he held in his heart.

When I get a chance to read a new Mary Calmes book I’m always in seventh heaven. This woman is creator of my most often reread comfort reads and some of my favorite couples out there in the MM universe. When the Dust Settles is a Timing story, but if you haven’t read Timing and After the Sunset, the first two stories in the series, you still can enjoy this book as a standalone. However, for full understanding and maximum reading pleasure (and simply because they are very entertaining stories) you should start with those to get to know Stef and Rand and their fantastic family.

Glenn Holloway was introduced to the reader in the second book and we got to know him and his situation from Stef and Rand’s perspective. I really enjoyed getting to see things from his point of view. He is a strong and sweet character and I was rooting for him to find his peace with his family.

Mac Gentry is the foreman at Rand’s ranch, and he has a cameo appearance in the previous book as well. I found him intriguing right away and his interaction with Stef hinted a possibility for the future, so I was really curious how these two men were going to get together. I certainly wasn’t disappointed.

We get a signature Mary Calmes feel-good story here. The book has all the feels and emotions the writer so masterfully creates and the events are entertaining, fun, and perfectly paced. We meet all our favorite characters and new ones who add an extra layer of awesome with their diversity and complexity. Glenn and Mac form a cute couple and have the perfect chemistry with real feelings thrown into the mix. Behind the light and fun surface, there’re quite a few issues addressed here and all these details add up to a wonderful read you don’t want to miss. Highly recommended!
